Fighting Trash at its Source

Welcome to the Page for the Annual Earth Day and California Coastal Commission Cleanups.

The April 18th Earth Day Cleanup has been canceled.

In light of the situation with COVID-19, we cannot encourage the pick up of trash left by others. However, if you feel that your family would like to cleanup trash, we cannot stop you any time of the year.  If you do decide cleaning up trash outside of an event is worth your efforts, and the risk, you can use the CleanSwell App to collect data. It was developed by the Ocean Conservancy, to take place of the data cards that we use at each cleanup event. Data is important, because it helps quantify the trash problems that we have in our state, and is used to motivate legislation, like the Disposable Grocery Bag Ban.

For the 19th Annual Vacaville Creek Cleanup, on September 26th, 9AM to Noon, done in coordination with the California Coastal Commission, please check back in August 2020.

If you would like to cleanup a trail or a section of the creek, as part of a group outside of those dates, please contact the City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department, and they will be able to assist you. You can reach out to someone at their Ulatis Community Center Office at 707-469-4000 or at their 3 Oaks Community Center Office at 707-469-4020.
