The Vacaville Police Department's Investigative Services Section provides a variety of criminal investigative services. Investigative Services investigates crimes that are committed against people and property. More specifically, we handle the following types of investigations: Homicides, accidental/suspicious deaths, missing adults and children, arson, robbery, residential burglary, commercial burglary, fraud and identity theft. Our unit is staffed with one sergeant and seven detectives.

How you can help us:
To successfully combat crime we need community partners. We ask for you help in a variety of ways and always appreciate you calling us with helpful crime solving information. We occasionally print photographs of wanted people in local newspapers and fliers. If you recognize a wanted person depicted in a photograph, please call the police department at (707) 449-5200 to provide information on the person's whereabouts. You always reserve the right to provide the information anonymously.

All unsolved homicides and missing person's cases remain open indefinitely. If you have information regarding an unsolved homicide or missing person's case (no matter how limited) don’t hesitate to call and speak to a detective. Some of our most difficult cases are solved after seemingly tiny bits of information are assembled to give us the big picture. If you think you have information that may help solve a crime, do the right thing and give us a call.

If someone you know is missing, call the Police Department (707) 449-5200 for advice. The Investigative Services Section typically handles missing person's cases that are suspicious in nature or that involve foul play. Juvenile runaway cases should be reported to the police department as soon as possible. Patrol personnel take initial runaway reports, and then refer the case to a Youth Services runaway investigator. If the runaway child is not found after 30 days the case is automatically referred to a detective for follow-up.
