Help the City Update our Land Use & Development Code
We’re in the process of updating the City’s Land Use & Development Code and want you to get involved. Our CodeUp project team is hosting an open house on Aug. 20 from 4:30–5:30 p.m. to introduce our draft use regulations. This is when you, the public, has an opportunity to learn about the draft regulations and ask questions of our staff. Right after, stay for our Planning Commission Workshop on the draft. Both meetings will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 650 Merchant Street.
Last updated in 1996, the Land Use & Development Code is an essential tool to help us create the community that Vacaville residents envision and regulates how and where land may be used to achieve that vision for a safe and vibrant city now and into the future. Once the draft regulations are complete, City staff will present them to our Vacaville City Council for final approval.
The code regulates aspects of development such as construction standards, land subdivisions, and zoning. Zoning, in particular, determines the form and character of development, and ensures that land uses and development fit into existing neighborhoods. It also sets the rules for a variety of home improvement projects such as room additions, patio covers, decks, and pools.
