Parks and Recreation Launches Program for Residents with Special Needs
The City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department was approved on July 1 to begin implementing a formal Therapeutic Recreation Program.
Designed to create recreational opportunities for the growing population of people with special needs, the program will start with monthly activities and build from there. Initial ideas and outings include bowling, participation in Glow Night at the Graham Aquatic Center, and a social gathering at the Aug. 2 CreekWalk concert. Prices vary per activity. Each participant must be accompanied by a caregiver.
The department is collecting a list of people who are interested in receiving information about upcoming programs, as well as those who would like to volunteer their time. Please contact Elizabeth Crisante at Elizabeth.Crisante@cityofvacaville.com to be added to either list. An application and background check are required for volunteers
