MAJOR PROJECT UPDATES
Detention Basin Projects
Vacaville is diligently pursuing a series of detention basins to reduce the potential of flood damages within the City.
Construction of the Pleasants Valley Detention Basins has been completed. The City completed the land acquisition for the planned Alamo Creek and Ulatis Creek Detention Basins. As of July 2008, Vacaville secured $3 million dollars from FEMA under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and $3 million dollars under California’s Department of Water Resources Proposition 84. Both awards are for the Alamo Creek Detention Basin. In order to receive the funds, the project must pass the HMGP National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance project and Proposition 84 hearing processes. Both items are currently underway.
