Trench Rescue Training Classes in April, May

The Vacaville Fire Department occasionally offers classes designed to assist other agencies and their members stay up to date on latest techniques and information.
Two separate classes on Trench Rescue will be offered by the Vacaville Fire Department in May 2012. The classes are California State Fire Training Certified FSTEP courses and are limited to the first 24 to register. Cost is $250 per class per student and must be paid in advance. The Fire Department has a new customer survey. This is an interactive pdf form that can be submitted online or printed and mailed to the Fire Department.
Also, if you would like the Fire Department to contact you, please type your name and phone number in the grey highlighted area at the bottom of the page.
The form is found under the "Forms and Fees" dropdown list or simply hit the attached Customer Survey.

September is Disaster Preparedness Month. Are you ready?
Disasters can include fires, floods, earthquakes or even a terrorism event. Any of these disasters can strike quickly and without warning. If a disaster strikes your neighborhood, you may be confined to your home for days, possibly without the assistance of emergency services for up to 72 hours or longer.

Hot, dry weather combined with lightning have sparked fires throughout the state. To assess the risk of wildfire damage to their houses and communities, homeowners can use an interactive Web site designed by University of California, Berkeley, fire researchers.
At http://firecenter.berkeley.edu/toolkit, residents can enter information about their home's construction and landscaping to get a science-based assessment of its vulnerability to wildfire and suggestions for reducing their risk. The Fire Information Engine Toolkit was developed by scientists at the Center for Fire Research and Outreach, based at UC Berkeley's College of Natural Resources.
Californians can also type in a specific address to see if they live in a region at risk for wildfires and obtain information about fires that have occurred in the area since 1950. For people living in fire-prone areas, tips and resources for recovering from wildfire have recently been added to the site.
