SENIOR & COMMUNITY CENTERS

Senior and community centers offer an important service in updating seniors with relevant information. They also offer excellent opportunities to be involved, enjoy social activities, exchange ideas, and to receive many services. Most offer hot lunch programs. Many feature

dances, games, classes, and a variety of other activities.

DAY ACTIVITY PROGRAMS

The active senior can enjoy fellowship, lunch, social events and activities such as arts and crafts, games, exercise, guest speakers and more.

Once a week recreation, Tuesday 9-2:30 p.m., day socialization and crafts programs for well seniors 50+. Speakers are often presented. Programs are free to participants. Bring bag lunch or purchase a low cost hot meal.

Contact this department regarding any issues or problems concerning the Area Agency on Aging. This department oversees the Area Agency on Agency as a funding source, setting policy and giving the agency technical assistance with programs. The Department also works with other public and private non profit agencies throughout California. COMMITTEES ON AGING

Several cities have citizens’ advocates groups that meet regularly to advise city and county government about the needs of older adults. Check with your local senior center for information.

AREA AGENCY ON AGING SERVING NAPA & SOLANO ADVISORY COUNCIL

This volunteer citizens’ advocate group advises and makes recommendations to the Area Agency on Aging. Council members work to improve the well-being of older persons. Monthly meetings are open to the public. Contact your local Area Agency on Aging for information and meeting locations.
