Former council member Pauline Clancy passes away
Served five consecutive terms on the Vacaville City Council
Pauline Clancy, a former Vacaville City Council member, passed away early Saturday morning after a short illness. She was 85.
Clancy was first elected to the City Council in 1990 and served five consecutive terms until 2010, when she choose to not run again.
“She was on the council for 20 years, and had a great following of people,” said Vacaville Mayor Len Augustine, who served with Clancy for many of those 20 years. “She fought for their issues and had a good-sized impact on our city as it grew and evolved.”
Clancy’s impact and presence was felt by other council members as well.
“While I only sat on the dais with Pauline for two years, she made a strong impression on me,” said Council member Dilenna Harris, who served with Clancy during her final two years as a council member. “She was boldly opinionated and refused to mince words when addressing an issue of importance to her constituents.”
Ron Rowlett, who also served with Clancy during her final two years, was sure of one thing when it came to his former council colleague.
“I truly believe she loved Vacaville, and always tried to do the right thing for Vacaville,” Rowlett said. “She will be missed.”
She is survived by her son, Donald, and her beloved dogs, Cooper and Marshmallow.
